FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

What's the single best month?

September — reliable winds, warmest dry-season water, thin crowds, whale tail-end. July–August sail just as well but cost more.

Is stinger season dangerous?

With precautions, no: full-length stinger suits while swimming (Nov–May) and vinegar stations everywhere. Serious stings are rare.

Should we risk cyclone season for the cheap rates?

Many do — with travel insurance and flexible dates. Operators track lows and adjust bookings threatened by cyclones.

How far ahead is 'early' for peak season?

June–August fleets sell out 6+ months ahead. Shoulder needs 2–3 months typically.

Does the wind stop sailing entirely in summer?

No — but it's lighter and variable: shorter passages, more motoring, plan around the daily forecast.

Whales from a yacht — really?

Really. The passage is a whale highway in July–September; sightings from the cockpit are common.
